Derbyshire County Council - Decision on future of waste treatment centre
Councillors have approved plans to repair a waste treatment centre and bring into operation to treat waste that residents in Derby and Derbyshire either cannot or choose not to recycle.

Retrain for skills with green energy
More than 60 Derbyshire residents have already benefitted from our Green Entrepreneurs Scholarship Scheme including Jon Honeyfield, a plumber and heating engineer from Holymoorside.
Jon applied for a grant and was awarded £1,250 to cover the cost of two courses to learn how to safely install heat pumps.

DCC propose to keep council tax rise as low as they can
Our proposed council tax rise for the year ahead is expected to be one of the lowest county council increases in the country if agreed.
We're proposing a rise of 3.75% for 2023-24, which is expected to be the lowest in the East Midlands and predicted to be amongst the lowest nationally.

Tackling food and energy costs
This includes £100,000 to Marches Energy Advice to help foodbank clients with the cost of energy and £100,000 for Foundation Derbyshire to carry on supporting local food banks.
Marches Energy Advice currently runs the Warmer Derby and Derbyshire energy advice and support service which includes a free Derbyshire-wide dedicated fuel poverty helpline on 0800 677 1332.

Memorial service for Queen Elizabeth II
Her late Majesty the Queen will be remembered at a memorial service in North East Derbyshire next month.
North East Derbyshire District Council has organised the event, which will take place on Sunday 5 February - almost a year to the day the country joined together to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee.
