Hollingwood Hub to reopen
Unless there is a change to the Government's plans, on Monday April 12th Katey's Coffee Shop and our Information Centre & Shop will reopen at Hollingwood Hub. Katey will not have any inside tables.
Information Centre and Shop
We hope to have this open every day from 12th April from 11.00 to 15.00.
On Sundays, we intend to have a table in our Information Centre & Shop, or possibly outside if the weather is good, where local crafters can display and sell their wares. We will charge £10 for this.
I'm sure that lots of you will have seen some highly amusing posts about the Ever Given being stuck. Our Writer in Residence on the Work Party, Mr Roy Stringer, has produced a poem explaining that the problem could have been solved in no time had they contacted us straightaway, see attached.
As you probably know, our Work Party had intended starting the work on the Rewatering Renishaw project last year. There are still various hold ups, not least that their work at Staveley is not quite finished. In the meantime, we intend to hold Canal Clear-up sessions at Renishaw on the last Saturday of every month, starting on April 24th
An apology - a couple of you have told us that you found a problem with one of the paths on the Harthill and Thorpe Salvin walk in the most recent edition of Cuckoo - that's what comes of trying to do something during lockdown! Fortunately there's an easy solution, see attached.
IWA Photography competition
The Inland Waterways Association's annual photography competition is running until 31st July. For full information, click here.
We are looking for a volunteer Accounts Clerk to help with our Finance Team. This will take up the equivalent of about half a day a week. The vast majority of the work can be done at home. Experience of finance, admin., and book keeping would be very helpful.
We are gradually putting walks together for our Walking Festival which will run from 11th to 19th September. We are still looking for new walks and walk leaders, in particular we need someone to lead our Full Length Walk that we run over three consecutive days
We are still collecting photos for our 2022 Calendar. If you have any photos that you would like to submit for consideration, please email with them attached firstname.lastname@example.org
Canalmania - the Building of England's Canals
You may be interested in this talk. All proceeds go to the Kent MS Therapy Centre.
If you have some wildlife photos that we could feature, please email email@example.com with them attached. Now that we can get out and about, we will again restrict entries to the canal, not gardens etc.
Please note that we keep your email address on an electronic database for contacting you in this way. We will never pass it on to any third party.
