Food Waste Action Week
Food Waste Action Week, 1-7 March
We're supporting Love Food Hate Waste's Food Waste Action Week – seven days of action calling on the nation to help do something about the climate crisis by cutting down the amount of food that goes in their bins.
Wasting Food Feeds Climate Change
Wasting food is a huge contributor to climate change – a fact that is not so well known. We want to help change that. Throwing away food creates more greenhouse gases than aviation and if we all used our loaf and stopped chucking bread in the bin it could do the same for greenhouse gas emissions as planting 5.3 million trees.
The good news is that cutting your food waste can be quite simple to do and it saves you money as well – on average £60 per month.
Follow the campaign this week #FoodWasteActionWeek, join the #FoodWasteActionChallenge and take a look at our 50 Ways campaign to help make your food go further. Meanwhile here are a week's worth of ideas to get you started – day by day.
