Cllr David Landall
My name is David Landall. I was in the British Army for just over 10 years, I was discharged on medical grounds, because of a back injury. I have worked many sales jobs.
I met my wife from Sheffield and settled here some 10 years ago. I lived in John Street but now live in Ridgeway. Since leaving the army I found it hard to cope on the outside. What I realised is that a lot of people seem to be frightened of standing up for themselves at work. So I became a union representative to help them.
Usdaw Union help me by giving me all the training needed. I then got a job as an ambulance driver. So I had to change unions and became a GMB member.
Unfortunately I had a heart attack and cardiac arrest. So I had to leave my job and take early retirement. Been through the disabilities. I hope it gives me insight into helping people with needs. I also still fighting for people who feel they have no voice.
