In 2009 the Parish Council was given a grant towards the weather proofing for the Chapels of Ease at
Eckington Cemetery by BNED Leader Funding. This work involved making sure the roof was sound;
the windows were boarded up (with the appropriate entrance and exists for bats and that the
steeple was stabilised and made safe.

All this work was carried out in accordance with regulations affecting Grade ll Listed Building.
Below are some photographs of the Chapels of Ease before and after the Weatherproofing

The Future for the chapels of Ease

Subject to funding it is the intention of the Parish Council to restore the Chapels and to provide disabled toilets; a kitchen area and a meeting room in one Chapel and in the other Chapel we are looking to develop a Heritage Museum (contributions welcomed).
It is also proposed to adjoin both chapels with a smoked glass archway.
