Searching for Records

The first screen you will see is the 'Search Panel' which enables you to enter your details to help narrow down the record you are looking for.  When you use this panel, you must enter at least the Surname and a Date.  Click into each of these fields and enter your values.  Please note that the date field will automatically look both back and forward a pre-set number of years, so please enter a date as close you as can to the known burial date.  If your search finds no results, please try alternative name spellings or other dates to help narrow your search or if you have too many results to check, try entering a Forename and/or Initals to help reduce the number of the results found.

Once you have located some records, you will see the following table:

Here you can see that entering the name of Smith and a Year of 1920 has resulted in 2 records being displayed.  The actual number displayed will of course vary on the criteria you enter.  The details shown are:

No. of entry - this is the unique number recorded in our paper books

Surname - the suname of the deceased

Forname - the forname of the deceased

Initals - the initials of the deceased

Year of Death - the recorded year of death

If you know that any of these details are inaccurate, please let us know and we will correct any data if necessary and as applicable.

To view any of the found records, click the 'View Record' button where a confirmation message will be displayed as viewing the record will use one of your credits.  Please note that at this point, you will need to have purchased some credits for your account.  If you have no credits, a message will be displayed inviting you to purchase some.  Please make sure you select the correct record to view as once a credit is taken, it cannot be refunded.  Clicking one of the results will then show the following panel:

This panel contains the same data as the search view plus the following information:

Grave Number - this is the actual grave number of the deceased.  You can locate the physical position of the grave in the cemetary using our burial plan when you visit us.

Site - where the grave is located, currently this is either our 'old' or 'new' site.

Page - this is the actual Record Book and Page Number from our paper records.  If you wish to examine the books, some of them are very old and not open to the public, so please call us first to arrange a visit.

Remarks - this is the remark or comment made in the record book at the time of burial.

You can also see a thumbnail image of the actual page and if you want to view a larger image, click it and a new window will open showing the full detail.

Note that once you have viewed a record, you will not have any of your credits deducted for viewing it again so you can revisit the record as ofte as you wish.  You can also use standard browser options to save the image, eg if you are using Internet Explorer, simply right-click the enlarged image and choose 'Save Picture As...' option and save the file.  You may then open, print and use this image for your own personal use only.

Your Account Details

You can check details about your account, what credits you have and 'Add Credits' from this panel.  You will be able to view the details you have entered such as your user name and available credits.  Below the main details are the records you have viewed and so have used a credit.  You can view these records again as many times as you wish by clicking the 'View Record' button.

To add more credits to your account, click the 'Add Credits' link, choose the number required and follow the on-screen instructions.  Online payment is only accepatable via PayPal but please note that you do not need a PayPal account to make a payment and can use the PayPal Secure Credit Card payment method if you prefer.    If you want to make a payment via cheque or any other method, please contact us first.  Please do not send cash or Postal Orders in the post.
